俄羅斯撐竿跳之后費凡諾娃16日在英國伯明罕舉行的2003世界室內田徑錦標賽中大放異彩，一舉跳過4公尺80高度，贏得該項后冠並締造女子室內撐竿跳世界新猷。

原女子室內撐竿跳世界紀錄保持人-美國名將德吉拉本月初才剛在波士頓舉行的2003美國室內田徑錦標賽中締造4公尺78的世界紀錄。

同時也是女子室外撐竿跳世界紀錄(4公尺81)保持人德吉拉，這次運氣不佳，在資格賽中意外失蹄，4公尺30的高度三次試跳都沒有過竿，慘遭淘汰。

費凡諾娃在4公尺80的高度，第一跳失敗，第二跳過竿時身體有點觸竿，竿子有點顫動但並未掉落，算是成功越竿而過，創下新紀錄。

贏得后冠的費凡諾娃除了落袋的四萬美元冠軍獎金之外，還額外獲頒五萬美元的破紀錄支票，可說是滿載豐收。(2003/3/21 JO)
