第五屆青森亞洲冬季運會1日中午盛大開幕，來自29個國家的千餘名隊職齊聚一堂，六百四十位選手未來一週內將在六大比賽五十一種項目中競技，而南北韓在繞場時共同揮舞著「統一旗」，更讓在場觀眾印象深刻。
開幕典禮以日本歌舞伎表演為主軸，融合時下流行的Hip-Hop舞蹈，呈現出四季的不同意象，豪華的表演彷彿一場盛大的嘉年華會，令人目不暇給。
中華代表團1月31日已全數抵達青森，賽程則於3日由女子個人花式滑冰項目首先登場，比賽進行至7日結束，8日為閉幕典禮。(2003/2/2
