1990年義大利世界盃足球賽中，不停吸引世人目光的是喀麥隆年屆38歲的老將米拉，及阿根廷專救十二碼罰球的替補門將哥伊柯查。

　　「非洲雄獅」喀麥隆在分組首戰阿根廷時，以犯規戰術伺候馬拉度納，成功地封住了阿隊攻勢，終場阿根廷以0-1落敗，喀麥隆在開幕戰就爆出大冷門。

　　 十六強出戰哥倫比亞，米拉個人獨拿二分。喀麥隆以打入八強的表現告訴世人，非洲不再是足球落後地區了。但八強戰，喀隊後衛連著兩次禁區犯規把江山拱手讓人，米拉傳奇暫告一個段落。

　　阿根廷門將哥伊柯查的秀在八強戰開始，與南斯拉夫踢到PK戰，馬拉度納踢出軟弱無力的球，被對方門將伊柯維奇攔下來，哥伊柯查真的救了兩個回來，阿根廷以3-2獲勝。

　　準決賽又是PK戰，哥伊柯查連救二個罰球，阿隊以4-3贏了PK戰。

　　決賽沒有打PK戰，但雙方唯一的進球卻是十二碼罰球，這回哥伊柯查的神奇消失了，西德老將布雷默操刀命中，西德以1-0獲勝奪冠。
