1982年世界盃足球賽在浪漫的西班牙上演著義大利歌劇，主角是義大利及西德隊，兩支「像小偷一樣偷偷溜進複賽」的球隊，卻一路挺進決賽，義大利摘冠，多虧了最佳男主角「金童」羅西。

　　配角是巴西及法國，兩支在第一輪分組賽戰績最佳的球隊，巴西卻毀在義大利腳下，更精確點說，是羅西一個人毀了巴西；法國毀在西德手中。

　　「小偷」級的義大利狀況逐漸回穩，先以2-1擊敗衛冕的阿根廷，在出戰巴西爭四強時，帶出了本屆比賽的最高潮，前四戰狀況低迷的羅西，開始了他的英雄之旅，大演帽子戲法，3-2義大利獲得關鍵一勝。

　　準決賽對波蘭之戰，羅西連進兩球，使義大利以2-0獲勝晉級決賽。決賽對西德，還好有羅西在，在下半場十二分鐘時掌握妙不可言的時機把球頂進門，帶動了義隊攻勢，終以3-1獲勝，成為繼巴西後第二支三度奪冠的隊伍。
