「紅魔鬼」比利時與俄羅斯之戰，為了搶搭八強列車，二隊可說是卯足全部戰力，戰況相當激烈，比利時首度在上半場踢進一球，隨後雙方在下半場各有建樹，最後比利時以3-2擊敗俄羅斯。

世足賽D組賽程，戰況相當激烈，美國vs.波蘭一役，已經篤定被淘汰的波蘭隊，可說是為了「尊嚴」而戰，打來分外起勁，上半場開賽10分鐘內，連續踢進2球，創下本屆比賽最快進球紀錄；終場美國就以0-3抱蛋，卻因為另一場比賽葡萄牙被南韓擊敗，意外獲得晉級八強資格。

南韓vs.葡萄牙一戰，攸關南韓是否順利晉級，賽前預測將可輕鬆過關的葡萄牙，卻大意失荊州，終場以0-1敗陣。葡萄牙此役共收到二張紅牌，對於士氣打擊不小，南韓隊也趁勝追擊，由21歲的中場球員朴智星在下半場踢進一球，是南韓獲勝的最大功臣。
