6月2日最受矚目的一場比賽，就屬英格蘭與瑞典一戰，素有「黃金右腳」美稱的貝克漢，在場中成功擔任供輸的靈魂角色，開賽第24分，就以一記角球，幫助隊友坎貝爾(圖中右者)頭槌進球，攻下第一分，瑞典則在下半場59分，亞力桑德森在18碼突破重圍，射進一球，終場雙方就以1-1握手言和。(AFP)

南非與巴拉圭比賽，榮獲當日最戲劇化的球賽，巴拉圭在第39分與55分連續踢進二球，以2-0領先，原本以為勝利在望，但是南非隊也不是省油的燈，趁著巴拉圭不注意之際，在第63分鐘還以顏色，踢進一球，在終場前，更趁著巴隊守門員犯規，獲得一次踢12碼球機會，由曼聯大將隊長福瓊代表踢球，成功突擊，終場兩隊就以2-2踢成平手。這場比賽，南非隊總共收到8張黃牌警告，可算是本屆世足賽破紀錄的一場火爆大賽。
